CM Maryam Nawaz’s vision for smog-free Punjab, actions intensified under zero tolerance policy

The Punjab government has further tightened the practical steps to implement Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Smog-free Punjab” vision.

According to Punjab Police, 824 cases were registered and 775 people were arrested for violating SOPs related to smog during the current year. Major operations were carried out in various districts including Lahore. Lahore alone reported 34 cases and 41 arrests.

According to police officials, strict action was taken against vehicles emitting smoke on the highways, as a result of which more than 290,000 vehicles were challaned, 24,000 vehicles were impounded and 283 fitness certificates were cancelled.
