Decision to display subsidy details on electricity bills, QR code registration mandatory for consumers

The government has decided to introduce a new mechanism to make the subsidy system given to electricity consumers more transparent, under which now consumers will be clearly told on their electricity bills how much government subsidy they have been provided.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the aim of this move is to ensure timely and transparent provision of relief to deserving and low-power consumers. The Power Division says that in the future, a special QR code will also be listed on electricity bills, which consumers will have to scan and complete a short registration.

According to officials, this registration will not be for any new condition or additional tax, but only to confirm that the subsidy is reaching the right consumers.

The government says that providing relief to the poor and middle class is still the top priority. The Power Division clarified that contrary to some reports circulating on social media, the move is not aimed at abolishing subsidies but at making the system more efficient and fair so as to prevent wastage of national resources.

According to officials, if consumers complete their registration on time, they will not face any difficulty in getting subsidies in the future. The Ministry of Energy has appealed to the public not to ignore the QR code on their electricity bills and complete the registration soon.
