Federal government borrowed Rs 573 billion in November 2025, State Bank

The State Bank of Pakistan has revealed that the federal government obtained a new loan of Rs 573 billion during November 2025, after which the total government debt has increased to Rs 77 thousand 543 billion.
According to data released by the State Bank, in the month of November, the government borrowed Rs 653 billion from local sources, while Rs 79 billion was repaid in terms of external loans.
According to the central bank, although the debt increased in November, an overall decrease of Rs 345 billion was recorded in government debt during the first five months of the current fiscal year.
According to experts, the acceleration in the repayment of external loans and reliance on local financing are indicating a change in the structure of government debt.
