Islamabad: There is good news for the public worried about high electricity bills. Electricity distribution companies (DSCOs) have submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to provide relief of over Rs53 billion to consumers.
According to Nepra, the public hearing on the fourth quarter adjustment of the financial year 2024-25 has been completed, and the authority will now issue a detailed decision after examining the data.
The CPPA (Central Power Purchasing Agency) says that if the request is approved, consumers can be given a relief of Rs1.80 per unit for the next three months, which will provide some relief to the people suffering from inflation.
However, this quarterly adjustment will not be applicable to Lifeline consumers, consumers with prepaid meters and electric vehicle charging stations.
