High level of flood in Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers

Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab has warned that the water level in the Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab rivers may rise to dangerous levels from September 1 to 5. According to PDMA, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the upper areas till September 3, which may lead to flood situation.

The spokesperson said that the Chenab River may face very high flood levels in the next 24 hours at the Head Trimu area, while the water level will remain high in Ganda Singh Wala. In this regard, an alert has been issued to all the commissioners and deputy commissioners of Punjab, including Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Bahawalpur.

According to DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia, all the relevant departments including local government, irrigation, health, agriculture and forests have been mobilized, while all the arrangements have been completed under the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed has asked the district authorities to keep a constant watch on the possible situation and take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the public. The public has also been appealed to follow the precautionary measures issued to avoid losses.
