Investors continued to buy on Thursday at the Pakistan Stock Exchange, resulting in a strong market close. The overall market sentiment remained positive with interest in selected companies related to banking, fertilizer, cement and energy rising and the major indices closed in the green zone.

According to the closing market data, the KSE-100 index recorded a gain of 1,761.66 points, after which the index closed at 181,776.60 points. The index traded in a positive range throughout the day and due to continued investor interest, it reached a high of 182,007.04 points, while the low was 180,626.93 points. The trading volume was 345.78 million shares.

On the other hand, the KMI-30 index also showed a strong performance and closed at 256,134.77 points with a gain of 2,587.38 points. Active buying was also seen in shares of companies included in the Islamic index, while the trading volume was 127.57 million shares, indicating better investor activity.

Looking at the performance of individual companies, large stocks like MARI, UBL, FFC, LUCK, ENGROH, BAHL and MLCF played a major role in pushing the index up. On the contrary, shares of a few companies including MEBL, FABL, SNGP, PSO and HCAR saw minor pressure, but their impact on the overall market direction was limited.

According to analysts, the recent improvement in the market reflects that investors are expressing confidence in the fundamental financial indicators and the performance of the corporate sector. According to them, if the country’s economic indicators remain stable and the financial results of companies come in line with expectations, the positive trend in the market may continue till the coming sessions.

Business circles say that the current session saw balanced buying in various sectors, which led to a broad-based improvement in the market. However, experts advise investors to review the fundamental financial data, risks and their financial strategy of the companies before investing so that better and informed decisions can be made.

This session indicates that investor confidence in the Pakistan Stock Exchange remains intact, while the future direction of the market will depend on local economic developments, corporate results and the global financial environment. Therefore, investors will now focus on the upcoming trading sessions and new economic indicators.
