KSE 100 and KMI 30 indices close with significant decline

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended trading on a negative note on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with both the major benchmark indices closing lower at the end of the day.

The KSE 100 Index opened at 175,863.78 points on the official market data, according to the data. The index reached its peak of 176,255.64 points and its bottom of 174,104.07 points during the trading session. At the close of trading, the index closed at 174,429.93 points, down 1,703.64 points, or 0.97 percent.

The volume of shares traded of the companies listed in the KSE 100 Index amounted to 266.16 million. The index has risen by 3.26 percent since the start of the current fiscal year and 0.22 percent since the start of the calendar year, according to available data.

On the company side, SRVI, MCB, OGDC, SCBPL and NESTLE added positive support to the index, while UBL, FFC, ENGRO, HUBC and LUCK added more negative impact on the overall index.

However, the KMI 30 index ended down as well at the close of the trading session. The index opened at 247,099.58 points and reached a high of 248,069.66 points and a low of 244,562.60 points during the trading session. The closing level was 245,280.51 points, which was 2,557.91 points or 1.03 percent lower than the previous close.

The number of shares traded of the companies listed in the KMI 30 index totalled 99.76 million shares. The index has dropped 4.68 per cent from the start of the financial year and 1.31 per cent from a year ago.

The positive contributors to the index were PRL, OGDC, GHNI and GAL, while the negative contributors were ENGRO, FFC, HUBC, LUCK and PPL.

Overall, the market remained under pressure in Wednesday’s trading session, and most investors adopted a cautious attitude. The direction likely to be taken by the market will be influenced by the next economic indicators, financial performances of the companies and other market-related events.
