The market showed some momentum after the start of trading. The KSE-100 touched a high of 178,122.88 points for the day. Later, selling pressure took the index to a low of 176,735.57 points.

During this period, trading activity in the market increased compared to the previous session. 933.516 million shares were traded in the ready market. This volume was 689.166 million shares in the previous session. The total trading value also increased to Rs 44.10 billion.

The overall direction of the market, however, was not uniform. Shares of 498 companies were traded on Monday. Of these, 222 companies increased their share prices while 241 recorded a decline. Another 35 companies remained unchanged.

Other major indices also showed a mixed trend. The All Share Index closed down 41.90 points at 107,599.75. The KSE-30 index also fell 26.27 points to 52,644.53.

In contrast, the KMI-30 index rose 55.28 points. It closed at 251,515.81 points. The OGTI index also rose 408.26 points or 1.12 percent.

Cnergyico Pakistan stood out in terms of volume. The company’s shares traded 266.477 million shares. Tasdeeq Information was second with 148.563 million shares. Pak Refinery traded 52.888 million shares.

Investors also focused on energy and some industrial stocks. According to PSX data, OGDC and PPL showed positive performance. On the contrary, some large banking and other sector shares put pressure on the index.

Overall, today’s decline was limited. However, the failure to sustain the day’s highs suggests that investors are cautious about buying at new highs. In the current situation, the market’s future direction may be influenced by local economic data, corporate earnings and global financial trends.

The latest levels of the Pakistan Stock Exchange indicate that the market remains active, but there are clear differences in the performance of different sectors. This difference could play an important role in determining the direction of the index in the coming sessions.
