In the context of rising tensions in the region, Pakistan has urged all relevant parties to exercise restraint and responsibility and prioritise diplomatic means and make practical progress towards resolving conflicts. The Foreign Office says that implementation of agreements, mutual trust and continuous dialogue are essential for regional peace and stability.
The Foreign Office statement said that Pakistan respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all brotherly countries in the region and is of the principled position that regional disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than the use of force.
According to the statement, in the current situation, all parties should refrain from taking any steps that could escalate tensions. The Foreign Office stressed that practical steps should be taken immediately to reduce tensions and restore confidence-building measures in the region.
Referring to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Islamabad, Pakistan said that fulfilling the commitments and obligations made under it is important for regional stability. According to the Foreign Office, effective implementation of agreements not only strengthens mutual trust but also paves the way for peaceful resolution of differences in the future.
The statement said that Pakistan has always supported the position that diplomatic contacts, negotiations and mutual respect provide the basis for lasting peace. Under this policy, Islamabad will continue to support all such measures that promote stability, economic cooperation and peaceful coexistence in the region.
According to experts, such statements become important when the political or security situation in the region is going through a sensitive phase. According to them, efforts to reduce tensions at the diplomatic level not only limit the risks of possible conflict but also create a conducive environment for economic activities, investment and regional ties.
Pakistan’s foreign policy has been emphasising the principle for the past years that dialogue should be given central status to resolve regional issues. The latest statement of the Foreign Office is also being described as a continuation of this policy, in which all concerned parties have been appealed to adopt a responsible attitude and move forward with the reconciliation process.
Analysts say that the success of any MoU is not limited to its signing alone, but its consistent implementation and regular communication bring out its real results. Confidence-building measures can prove more effective if all parties fulfil their promises.
The Foreign Office concluded its statement by clarifying that Pakistan will continue to support diplomatic efforts to promote lasting peace, stability and cooperation in the region and considers dialogue, diplomacy and restraint to be the most effective way to resolve differences. The statement once again expressed the hope that all concerned parties will take positive steps to reduce tensions and promote mutual trust so that peace and stability in the region can be provided with a strong foundation.
