Pakistan Calls for Strategic Dialogue Amidst Regional Tensions

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, in a recent interview, has highlighted the rising tensions between Pakistan and India, the Indus Waters Treaty, and international diplomatic efforts.

The Indus Waters Treaty
Dar made it clear that Pakistan would consider it an “act of war” if India tampered with the Indus Waters Treaty or tried to divert Pakistan’s waters. He said that Pakistan has given a befitting reply to India in this regard and has also informed the international community about it.

Pahalgam attack and its consequences
After the Pahalgam attack, India announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Ishaq Dar, speaking in the Senate, said he suspected the incident may have been staged to scuttle the Indus Waters Treaty, although he had no proof.

International diplomatic efforts.
Ishaq Dar said that the US Secretary of State called him and told him that India was ready for a ceasefir”e. Pakistan responded,” “If India is ready for a ceasefire, we are also ready.” He further said that Pakistan responded to the US Secretary of State that if India attacks again, we have the right to respond.

Pakistan and international delegations.
A complete plan has been prepared to highlight the narrative of Pakistan. Under this, delegations of Pakistani parliamentarians will go to America, Britain, Brussels, France, and Russia to present Pakistan’s position at the international level.

Willingness to negotiate
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is always ready for talks with India, but the clap cannot be played with one hand. He said that work is being done to reduce tensions between the two countries, and the next step will be to hold talks.

Pakistan has made it clear that it will not tolerate the violation of the Indus Waters Treaty and will take strong measures against it. The international community is being mobilized in this regard. to maintain peace in the region.
