Pakistan Railways’ new fare, passenger and freight train fares increased

Pakistan Railways has increased the fares of passenger and freight trains in view of the rising fuel prices.

According to a railway spokesperson, the operational costs of the institution have increased significantly after the recent increase in diesel prices, which has led to a change in the fares.

Under the new decision, the price of economy class tickets has been increased by 5 percent while the fares of AC class have been increased by 10 percent.

Officials say that the railways itself will bear some of the additional costs of passenger trains so that the full financial burden does not fall on the passengers.

On the other hand, freight train fares have also been increased by 20 percent and these new prices will come into effect from March 9.
