Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Defense Agreement: India Expresses Concern

India has expressed concern over the recent defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a media briefing that New Delhi is closely reviewing this development.

According to the spokesperson, India is looking at this agreement in the context of its national security, regional balance and global stability and relevant steps are being considered in this regard. He said that the Indian government is focusing on every aspect of this development.

It should be noted that yesterday, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh on a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was given a grand welcome.  Later, during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a strategic defense agreement was signed.

According to the joint statement, the agreement is an extension of the decades-long historic partnership, which aims to promote defense cooperation and further strengthen regional peace and security. The statement further said that in the event of any aggression, an attack on one country on the basis of joint defense will be considered an attack on both.
