Pakistan Warns of Strong Response After Cross-Border Attacks from Afghanistan

Pakistan has confirmed that its armed forces carried out targeted operations against militant positions inside Afghanistan following what officials described as repeated cross-border attacks.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan said the action was taken after unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban authorities late on February 26.

The spokesperson said Pakistani forces targeted terrorist bases and logistics facilities believed to be involved in planning and executing attacks against Pakistan.

“Heavy Losses” to Militants

According to officials, the selected targets were hit effectively, resulting in significant losses to the militant groups.

The statement warned that Pakistan would respond firmly to any future escalation while ensuring its actions remain calculated and proportionate.

Allegations Against Taliban and External Support

The Foreign Office alleged that terrorist attacks originating from Afghan soil have increased in recent months. It claimed that the Afghan Taliban regime, along with support from India, has allowed space to militant groups hostile to Pakistan.

Islamabad urged the Taliban government to stop providing safe havens to such groups and called on the global community to press Afghanistan to fulfil its counter-terrorism commitments.

Commitment to Peace

Despite the tensions, Pakistan expressed its commitment to regional peace and stability. Officials said diplomatic engagement and political dialogue remain important tools to prevent further escalation.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s right to self-defence under the UN Charter and international law.
