Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s big announcement to waive electricity bills in flood-affected areas

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding electricity bills in flood-affected areas, in which major decisions were taken for the victims.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister directed that all electricity distribution companies should immediately stop collecting electricity bills for August 2025 from consumers in flood-affected areas. He said that this step is being taken to provide relief to the affected families.

The Prime Minister clarified that after the settlement of matters with the IMF, a detailed package on electricity bills for flood-affected areas will be announced. On this occasion, he also informed that the bill amount of consumers from whom the electricity bill for August 2025 has been collected will be adjusted in the next month’s bill.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the floods have affected millions of people across the country and the government is making every effort to alleviate the suffering of the people in this difficult time.  He also expressed his determination that federal and provincial institutions will continue their full efforts until the flood victims are restored and resettled.

The Prime Minister further said that the government will not sit idly by until the affected people return to their homes.
