Proposal to reduce gas prices of Sui Northern and Sui Southern—Good news for consumers

Ogra has issued new proposals regarding gas prices in the country and has recommended a significant reduction in average rates for the two major companies—Sui Northern and Sui Southern. According to the latest data, the current revised average price of Sui Northern is Rs 1852.8 paise per MMBTU, in which a reduction of about Rs 48.72 paise has been proposed. After this adjustment, the new proposed average price for Sui Northern has been set at Rs 1804.8 paisa.

Similarly, the current average price of Sui Southern is Rs 1665.99 paisa per MMBTU, and the agency has recommended a reduction of Rs 116.58 paisa, which will bring the new proposed price to Rs 1549.41 paisa.

According to OGRA, these recommendations have been sent to the federal government, and the final decision will be taken after approval.

Gas sector experts say that if these recommendations are implemented, it will directly impact the budget of consumers, especially low-income households, whose expenses may decrease. According to experts, stability in energy prices in the country will also prove beneficial for industrial activities.
