Index constituent volume stood at 271.87 million shares during the session.

The market’s positive movement was mainly supported by selected banking and fertilizer stocks. UBL was the largest positive contributor to the KSE-100, adding 374.88 points. MEBL contributed 127.98 points, while FFC added 81.55 points. HBL and LUCK also made positive contributions.

At the same time, several heavyweight stocks put pressure on the index. OGDC was the largest negative contributor, reducing the KSE-100 by 83.60 points. ENGROH lowered the index by 64.59 points, while SYS, SRVI and PPL also remained among the major negative contributors.

The KMI-30 Index followed a similar trend. It gained 64.11 points, or 0.03%, and closed at 251,579.93. The index opened at 252,116.12 and recorded an intraday high of 252,449.82. Its low for the session was 250,433.49.

KMI-30 index constituent volume reached 132.42 million shares.

MEBL was the leading positive contributor to the KMI-30, adding 365.11 points. FFC contributed 157.25 points, while LUCK, FCCL and PRL also supported the index.

On the negative side, OGDC was the largest drag on the KMI-30, reducing it by 238.50 points. ENGROH, PPL, SYS and MARI also made negative contributions.

The session therefore reflected a mixed market structure. Gains in selected banking and fertilizer stocks helped the main indexes finish higher. However, weakness in several large companies kept the overall advance limited.

The KSE-100 remained down 1.63% on a FYTD basis, while its CYTD performance stood at 1.91%. The KMI-30 was down 2.23% on a FYTD basis and up 1.22% on a CYTD basis.

Overall, the trading data points to a modest improvement rather than a broad-based market rally. The performance of major index constituents will remain important for the market’s direction in upcoming sessions.
