The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed an overall bearish trend during the business week. The market fluctuated on several occasions; however, the week ended with a significant decline.
On the last business day of the week, the KSE-100 index closed at 177,166 points. Overall, the benchmark index recorded a decline of 2,938 points during the week.
The market fluctuated in a wide range during the business days. The highest level of the 100 index was 181,158 points. On the contrary, the lowest level of the week was recorded at 176,110 points. Thus, the difference between the high and low levels was 5,048 points.
The buying and selling of shares also continued in the market. A total of 4.22 billion shares were traded during the week. The value of these transactions was Rs 205 billion.
According to the data, the weekly decline also had an impact on the overall value of the market. The market capitalization of the Pakistan Stock Exchange decreased by Rs 247 billion. At the end of the week, this volume was Rs 19,882 billion.
The market performance shows that despite the continued business activity, the trend of investors was cautious. The significant difference between the high and low levels of the index also shows the volatility in the market during the week.
