Public holiday declared across Sindh on August 9 on the occasion of the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai

Karachi: The Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province on Friday, August 9, on the occasion of the 281st annual Urs of the great Sufi poet and spiritual leader Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

According to the official notification, all government offices, semi-government institutions, and educational institutions in Sindh province will remain closed on that day.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, known for his timeless poetry and spiritual message, draws millions of devotees to the shrine of Bhit Shah every year. The Urs celebrations last for three days and include Mehfil-e-Sama, conferences, and traditional fairs.

The holiday is not only a tribute to his services but also a means of keeping the Sufi traditions of Sindh alive.
