Punjab Announces Official Public Holidays List for 2026

The Punjab government has issued an official list of public holidays for the year 2026, according to which all public holidays approved by the federal government will be effective across the province. According to the notification, Kashmir Day on February 5, Pakistan Day on March 23 and Youm-e-Takbir on May 28 will be official holidays. Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will be from March 21 to 23, while Eid-ul-Azha holidays will be from May 27 to 29. On the occasion of Muharram, Ashura holidays will be on June 24 and 25, while Independence Day will be celebrated with enthusiasm across the province on August 14. Similarly, Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated on August 25, Allama Iqbal Day on November 9 and Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas on December 25. December 26 will be a public holiday only for Christian employees. The notification has clarified that January 1, February 18 and July 1 will be bank holidays. According to government officials, the purpose of these holidays is to highlight the importance of national and religious days as well as provide peace of mind and opportunities for better performance to government employees. Official sources say that the timely release of the list of holidays will facilitate annual planning for educational institutions, the business community and government departments.
