Sialkot: Khawaja Asif’s important discussion on talks with Afghanistan

Talking to the media in Sialkot, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that talks with the Afghan Taliban are ongoing under the facilitation of Qatar and Turkey. He said that the results of the recent talks in Istanbul are expected to be revealed by this evening or by tomorrow at the latest.

Khawaja Asif said that the talks will make it clear on what terms the Afghan Taliban want peace. If their terms are understandable to Pakistan, then a formal agreement may be possible.

The Defence Minister said that no untoward incident has taken place on the Pak-Afghan border for the last four to five days. According to him, about 80 percent of the Qatar agreement is being implemented, while India is trying to impose a proxy war through Afghanistan.

He also expressed regret that Pakistan hosted Afghan refugees for forty years, but now some elements are being used by India to engage in anti-Pakistan activities.

At the end of the conversation, Khawaja Asif also mentioned the situation in Sialkot and said that doctors here prefer to go to Lahore instead of working, due to which the problems are increasing.
