LAHORE: South Africa have won their first ever World Test Championship (WTC) title in a historic victory. The Proteas have restored their global prestige by defeating Australia by five wickets at Lord’s.

Over the four days of the final at Lord’s, South Africa have shed the ‘choker’ tag from their history, and emerged as a stronger team. Despite Australia’s best efforts, the Proteas’ fourth innings overcame the Australian defence and secured a five-wicket victory in the coral innings.
“This has never happened to us before, this is a special day,” said Bumrah on the occasion of the victory. Australia captain Pat Cummins also admitted: “It was tough, South Africa deservedly won”.
The victory is not only South Africa’s first WTC title, but also ends a 27-year ICC trophy drought, strengthening the team’s confidence and global status. At the same time, the success has brought new passion and determination for future Test matches.
