TCP tenders opened for sugar import in Pakistan

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has opened tenders for the import of one lakh metric tons of sugar to meet the sugar shortage in the country.

According to details, TCP received import bids from various companies.

The first company, Small Green Sugar, has offered $542.59 per ton, while the second company has bid $567.5 per ton for medium green sugar.

Similarly, the third company has offered to supply small grain sugar at $533 per ton.

According to experts, despite the recent increase in sugar prices in the global market, the bids received by TCP are lower than expected, which is a positive sign for the government. If these tenders are decided with transparency, there is a possibility of stabilization in sugar prices in the country.

Analysts say that the production figures of major countries like Brazil and Thailand are also having an impact on the global sugar supply, however, import measures in Pakistan are expected to provide relief to the local market.
