The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil network

The United States has added more oil sector entities and oil tankers to its sanctions list to increase economic pressure on Iran. US officials say the move is aimed at restricting Iran’s oil trade revenue.

According to a statement issued by the US Treasury Department, the new sanctions have been applied to 8 oil tankers and 10 different entities. According to US officials, these entities and vessels are linked to Iran’s oil supply chain or related commercial activities.

Washington maintains that the revenue from Iran’s oil exports is used for certain programmes and regional activities that the US has reservations about. On this basis, the US has been imposing phased sanctions against Iran’s oil network and its affiliated companies for the past several years.

The latest steps are also being considered a continuation of the same policy, under which the US wants to maintain pressure on Iran’s oil exports and alleged alternative shipping networks.

This development has come at a time when tensions have not completely subsided despite the recent ceasefire in the Middle East. The security situation in the region and the ongoing tensions between Iran and the US are being continuously monitored at the global level.

According to experts, the new sanctions could have an impact on Iran-US relations as well as the global energy market, but their practical consequences will depend on future regional and diplomatic developments.
