Attock: The Deputy Commissioner of Attock has announced a local holiday across the district on Thursday, August 28, 2025, on the occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar (Sakhi Sultan). All government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed; hospitals, Rescue 1122 and sanitation services will continue to operate.
According to the official notification, the decision was taken in view of the expected large number of pilgrims and to ensure public convenience. The district administration has issued directives for enhanced security arrangements, traffic management and additional facilities to support devotees visiting the shrine.
Tribute — Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar: A Saint of Generosity and Unity
Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar, venerated across communities, is remembered not just for spiritual guidance but also for boundless generosity. Known by affectionate titles such as Sakhi Sultan and Lakhdata, his life stories—told in local tradition—highlight compassion, sharing and service to the needy. The annual urs is an occasion when people of different backgrounds come together to pay respects, renew spiritual ties and celebrate a long heritage of tolerance and charity.
As Attock pauses to observe this day, the tribute to Sakhi Sarwar is also a reminder of values that bind communities: empathy, service, and the quiet strength of giving without expectation.
The urs of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar draws visitors from across the region each year. While historical details are preserved in local oral history and shrine records rather than a single authoritative biography, his legacy persists in the many acts of devotion and the communal harmony the shrine inspires.
