The Punjab government has started practical steps to celebrate Basant in a safe and organized manner. After the special instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an important meeting was held in the Home Department in which Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin reviewed the preparations in detail and issued clear orders to the concerned authorities.
According to government sources, it has been decided to improve the supply chain to prevent the rising prices and possible shortage of kite flying equipment on the occasion of Basant. In this regard, manufacturers registered in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Multan have been officially allowed to supply equipment directly to approved dealers and traders in Lahore.
Bilal Yasin, while addressing the meeting, said that the government’s aim is to provide safe entertainment to the citizens and eliminate artificial inflation. According to him, the availability of goods in large quantities will bring stability in the market and prices will come down.
Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, while giving a briefing on security arrangements, said that special monitoring, checking and safety measures will be ensured during Basant to avoid any untoward incident. All institutions have been instructed to remain alert.
The provincial minister said that the government is completing effective arrangements in a short time and all stakeholders will work together to make “Safe Basant” a success from February 6 to 8.
Special Home Secretary Zainab Khan and other senior officers also attended the meeting and presented various suggestions.
