In an important meeting of the federal cabinet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed in detail the national security, regional diplomacy and government measures against terrorism and said that Pakistan is playing a responsible role on every front. He clarified that in the situation related to Iran, Pakistan has preferred brotherly and positive diplomacy to reduce tension.
He said that continuous contacts are ongoing with the Iranian leadership and emphasis is being placed on resolving issues through negotiations. According to the Prime Minister, peace in the region is possible only through dialogue and cooperation.
Discussing the terrorist incidents in Balochistan during the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said that enemy elements targeted unarmed civilians and security forces, however, Pakistani forces responded promptly and effectively. He said that a large number of terrorists were killed during the operation and their network was severely damaged.
The Prime Minister said that 17 soldiers and 31 civilians were martyred in the attacks, while the killing of children and women in Gwadar is extremely regrettable and unbearable. He said that the entire nation is saddened by this tragedy.
He expressed his determination that the state will not hesitate to make any sacrifice to eliminate terrorism and the people are standing as a lead wall with the security agencies.
The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmiri people and every conspiracy of the enemy will be foiled. He also assured the provinces of full cooperation, mentioning his meeting with the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
