Cement sales in Pakistan have recorded an improvement during September 2026, which can be used to gauge the demand situation in the construction sector.
According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, the total cement sales across the country in September increased by 5.95% to 4.62 million tons.
According to the data, the demand for cement in the local market also increased. Domestic sales rose 7.35 percent to 3.788 million tonnes during September.
Cement exports also formed part of the overall sales during the period. According to available data, exports in September were around 8.32 million tonnes.
This increase in cement sales has come at a time when construction activities are being linked to the overall situation of the economy, construction costs and demand trends. The increase in domestic sales indicates that cement consumption in the market has improved compared to the previous year.
According to the report, overall cement sales also increased in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. During July-September 2026, overall sales increased by 3.88 percent to around 13.1 million tonnes.
The data shows that overall cement demand maintained a positive trend in the first quarter of the fiscal year. However, the future performance of the sector will also depend on construction activities, interest rates, government development spending and overall economic conditions.
The cement industry is considered a key indicator of Pakistan’s construction activity. Therefore, a continued increase in local sales could provide an important indication of demand in the construction sector.
