Pakistan has successfully tested an extended version of the locally developed Fateh 4 ground-launched cruise missile.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the performance of the new version was evaluated during the test. This missile system has been developed to enhance local defense capabilities.
The ISPR said that the extended version of Fateh-4 has been equipped with advanced avionics and navigational aids. Due to these features, the weapon system has the ability to accurately target targets at long distances.
According to the ISPR, the missile was tested in the presence of scientists and engineers of the relevant defense organization. Senior officers of the Pakistan Army also witnessed the test.
The ISPR said that President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the services chiefs expressed satisfaction over the successful test.
The officials appreciated the efforts of the scientists, engineers, and others involved in the test.
Local production in missile technology is considered important for Pakistan’s defense industry. The test of the extended version of Fateh 4 is a development in this regard; however, the ISPR did not release full operational details of the test at this time.
