Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif meets President Asif Ali Zardari. The meeting discussed the current political and security situation in the country.
According to sources, the situation arising after the long march of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also reviewed in the meeting.
Members of the government committee established for talks with the opposition briefed the president and the prime minister about the talks. The committee informed both leaders about the progress of the talks and the current political situation.
Sources said that the president and the prime minister met after the ceremony to award the Nishan-e-Imtiaz to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
During the meeting, peace and order in the country and political issues were also discussed. The two leaders agreed that consultations will continue before taking any steps on constitutional and legal matters.
The importance of political contacts and constitutional procedures to deal with the current situation was also discussed in the meeting.
Political activities have intensified after the lack of progress in the talks between the government and the opposition. In such a situation, consultation between the president and the prime minister is being considered important in the context of the current political situation.
