With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the demand for computing resources is also continuously increasing worldwide; however, a new report has shown that the infrastructure required for the development and use of advanced AI models is still limited compared to the demand. Due to this situation, Google could not fully provide Meta with the required Gemini computing capacity, which as a result affected the speed of some of Meta’s artificial intelligence projects.

The report quoted sources as saying that during March this year, Google informed Meta that it was not immediately possible to provide the full Gemini capacity requested by the company. Due to this shortage, several of Meta’s internal AI projects could not proceed as scheduled, and some projects were delayed.

According to reports, other Google users also faced some difficulties due to limited computing resources, but the impact on Meta was relatively greater because the company is using a lot of computing resources to develop artificial intelligence products, chatbots and advanced language models.

According to the report, after this situation, Meta has instructed its engineers and AI teams to use the available resources more effectively. The company has asked employees to be careful in using AI tokens so that ongoing projects can be completed in a better way despite limited computing capacity.

Experts say that AI tokens are the basic units through which any artificial intelligence model’s processing, question answering and other computing activities are accounted for. Effective use of tokens helps reduce both computing costs and resources.

This development comes at a time when the world’s major technology companies are continuously increasing their investments in the field of artificial intelligence. Google, Meta, Microsoft and others are spending billions of dollars on modern data centers and high-performance chips, but the growing global demand for AI services continues to strain infrastructure.

Google Cloud’s financial performance has also been noteworthy in this context. Google Cloud’s revenue reached $20 billion in the company’s first quarter, but Google CEO Sundar Pichai admitted that the company’s performance could have been even better if more computing resources were available. According to him, the number of pending projects at Google Cloud has also increased significantly due to limited capacity.

According to analysts, in the global race for artificial intelligence, it is no longer enough to develop advanced AI models, but access to strong computing infrastructure, advanced semiconductors and large data centers has also become a fundamental component of success. They say that the demand for AI services will increase further in the future, so technology companies will have to continuously invest in their computing capacity so that the needs of consumers and businesses can be met in a timely manner.
