Three parliamentarians, including Ijaz Chaudhry, were disqualified, causing a new upheaval in opposition alignment

Islamabad: A new move has been made on the political board of Pakistan, where the Election Commission has disqualified Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Ahmed Khan Bhachar, and Ahmed Chatha in light of the decisions of the Anti-Terrorism Court, shaking up the parliamentary alignment.

Political circles are calling this development a “strategic setback,” which has not only affected the numerical balance in parliament but also the future strategy of the opposition, which will have to be rearranged.

The disqualification of a veteran lawmaker like Ijaz Chaudhry has put his party on the defensive, while the search for new leadership in Mianwali and Wazirabad is no less than a challenge for PTI.

The Election Commission has declared the three seats vacant, paving the way for by-elections, after which major changes are expected in the political game plan in the coming days.
