Sixth powerful spell of monsoon in Punjab, PDMA issues alert
Islamabad: After predicting another severe monsoon spell across Punjab, the PDMA has directed citizens to be alert. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are likely to occur in various districts of Punjab from August 4 to 7.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, westerly winds are also joining this spell, which may further increase the intensity of the rains. There is a risk of flash flooding in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and other upper areas.
Similarly, urban flooding has been feared in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot and Gujranwala, where water accumulation in drains and roads may affect normal life.
PDMA has appealed to the public to check the weather conditions before traveling, stay away from rivers and canals and contact the local administration immediately in case of any emergency.
