The State Bank of Pakistan has further expanded the scope of its “Go Cashless” campaign to promote digital payments across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha 2026. According to the central bank, special arrangements are being made in 96 cattle markets across Pakistan this year so that buyers and traders can make secure transactions through modern digital means.

According to the central bank, there is large-scale financial activity in livestock markets during Eid-ul-Adha, and billions of rupees are bought and sold every year. Most of these transactions are done through cash, which creates security and transparency issues.

The SBP has said that the “Go Cashless” campaign is actually an important effort to modernise Pakistan’s payment system and attract the public towards digital financial services. According to the central bank, 22 banks are participating in this campaign and will set up camps and special booths in livestock markets of different cities.

These banks will register traders, transporters and other relevant persons on digital platforms. In addition, the facility of using QR code payments, mobile banking, direct services and branchless banking wallets will also be provided.

According to the announcement, the State Bank has also temporarily relaxed the limits of some accounts and transactions, keeping in mind the increasing transactions during the Eid season. This facility will be available from May 14, 2026, to June 5, 2026.

According to experts, the promotion of digital payments in Pakistan has become the need of the hour. They say that cashless payments are not only safe but also increase transparency in the financial system and help in documenting the economy.

The State Bank has appealed to the public to use digital means instead of cash during Eid-ul-Adha to make financial transactions safe, easy and fast. According to the central bank, the facility of instant payments will be available through mobile apps and a QR code system.

According to banking experts, if this campaign is successful, similar steps can be taken at other major commercial occasions in the future. They say that the growing trend of digital payments in Pakistan will prove to be a positive development for the economy.

According to economic analysts, this campaign of the State Bank will not only increase public convenience but will also strengthen public confidence in the banking system. They said that the use of modern financial technology can make Pakistan’s economy more stable and transparent.
