The situation in Group A of the mega cricket event has taken a dramatic turn, where India has qualified for the Super Eight stage after winning today’s match, while the Pakistan team has suffered a decline in the points table due to the defeat.

After a clear defeat by 61 runs against India, the Green Shirts’ run rate has become negative 0.403, due to which Pakistan has come to third place in the group. On the basis of run rate, the national team has also gone below the United States. The United States has earned 4 points with 2 wins in 4 matches, and its run rate is 0.788, which puts it in a better position.

Pakistan will play its last group match in the tournament against Namibia on Wednesday, February 18. This match has assumed great importance for the national team because in case of any upset, Pakistan will not only be out of the Super Eight stage race but may also be out of the event.

If Pakistan loses to Namibia, the United States will qualify for the Super Eight stage along with India from Group A. However, if the national team manages to win its last match, it can ensure access to the Super Eight. Similarly, if the match is cancelled due to rain, Pakistan can still make it to the next stage on the basis of points.

According to cricket experts, every ball and every run has now become important for the national team, because even a small difference can affect the run rate, and the pressure to stay in the semi-final race has increased.
