Weekly inflation rises in Pakistan

The weekly report of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has revealed significant fluctuations in the prices of food and beverages, according to which some items have become expensive while others have become cheaper.

According to the data, the price of tomatoes has recorded the highest increase of 22.13 per cent, while the prices of flour, diesel, petrol, onions, bananas, potatoes, milk, yoghurt and sugar have also increased.

On the other hand, the public also got some relief, according to which the price of chicken has decreased by 6.34 per cent, while eggs have become cheaper by 3.83 per cent and garlic by 2.20 per cent.

Economists say that this unbalanced change in food prices has a direct impact on the budget of the common citizen, especially for the low-income group, causing further pressure on the situation.

The report further states that last week, a total of 23 items became more expensive, 9 became cheaper, and the prices of 19 remained stable.
