NADRA Reforms: Modern Changes in B Form, FRC, and CNIC System

ISLAMABAD: NADRA has taken a major step towards a modern identification system after the approval of the federal cabinet and has implemented fundamental reforms in B Form, FRC, and CNIC rules. The registration requirements for obtaining a B form have now become stricter: the birth of a child must be registered with the Union Council, biometrics or photographs will not be taken from children under three years of age, photographs and iris scans are required for children aged three to ten, while full biometric data will be taken from children aged ten to eighteen

The FRC now has the status of a legal document based solely on NADRA records, which include three types of marriage families, evidence of multiple marriages, and the option for women to enter the name of the father or husband.

Modern chipless cards have been introduced with Urdu, English, and QR codes to give CNICs modern security features, and applications for confiscation or restoration are now required to be processed within 30 days

NADRA says these reforms will prove to be a milestone in combating counterfeiting, preventing child trafficking, and promoting digital governance.
