FBR decides to recruit 1600 auditors to enhance audit capacity

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to recruit about 1600 new auditors to make the audit system more effective.

According to the FBR, digital production monitoring system has already been introduced in sugar, cement, tobacco, fertilizer, beverages and textile sectors. Now taxpayers will be selected for audit under artificial intelligence-based risk parameters.

As a result of the institution’s transformation plan, the tax-to-GDP ratio has increased from 8.8 percent to 10.24 percent. Similarly, due to faceless customs appraisal, a 17.3 percent increase was recorded in the revenue per goods declaration, while the revenue through enforcement increased by 8 times compared to the previous year.

In this regard, the Chairman FBR has said that the institution is paying special attention to the convenience of taxpayers. According to him, a facilitation division has been established for taxpayers in LTO Karachi to reduce their difficulties.
