Islamabad: Additional police personnel have been deployed in the federal capital, tightening security. Security has been increased at important squares, entrances and sensitive government buildings in the city.
According to sources, all Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) have been directed to remain in the field and monitor security arrangements.
Sources say that orders have been issued to arrest those violating Section 144. Immediate action has also been directed in case of crowd gathering or banners being put up at any place.
Heavy police force has been deployed at the entrances of the city, while entry of unrelated persons has been stopped in the red zone. Rangers personnel have also been deployed to protect sensitive government buildings.
These measures indicate increased security arrangements in view of the concerns of political activities and protests in Islamabad. However, the official statement of the relevant authorities on the duration of the red alert, details of the restrictions and the latest situation is yet to be revealed.
