The Punjab government has strongly rejected the news circulating about the extension of winter vacations in educational institutions and has made it clear that all government and private schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the province will open regularly from January 12, 2026.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the notification going viral on social media regarding the extension of vacations is fake and misleading, while no new announcement has been issued by the Punjab Education Department in this regard. He reminded that according to the official notification of the Punjab Education Department, the winter vacations were from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026 and the same schedule should be implemented.
On the other hand, parents and education experts have expressed concern over the instructions given to students by some private educational institutions to start classes from January 6, who say that various announcements are causing severe confusion for students, parents and teachers. Educational circles are demanding that the government make all private institutions comply with government notifications so that discipline is maintained in the education system and the mental and academic activities of students are not affected.
