The first ashra of ramadan is going to be end, excitement is growing across the country as Pakistan prepares to celebrate Eid ul Fitr 2026. The final date of Eid depends on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet on March 19, 2026 (29th Ramadan) to observe the moon. The committee will collect reports from zonal committees and announce the official decision after verification.
According to experts, if the moon is sighted on March 19, Shawwal will begin on March 20, and Eid celebrations will be held from March 20 to March 22.
On the other hand, if Ramadan completes 30 days, Shawwal will start on March 21, and Eid will be observed from March 21 to March 23.
The federal government has already included Eid ul Fitr holidays in its 2026 public holiday calendar from March 21 to March 23 (Saturday to Monday). However, authorities have made it clear that the final schedule is subject to moon sighting confirmation.
If the moon is sighted earlier on March 19, the government is expected to adjust holidays to March 20 through March 22 (Friday to Sunday).
Eid ul Fitr is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, marking the conclusion of a month-long period of fasting. Special Eid prayers will be offered in mosques and open grounds nationwide, followed by gatherings and celebrations with family and friends.
Citizens are advised to follow the official announcement from the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for confirmation of the exact Eid date and public holidays.
