How to get petrol relief for motorcycles and small vehicles?

The government has clarified the procedure for a special fuel relief scheme for motorcycles, rickshaws, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800 cc to provide relief to citizens affected by expensive petrol.

According to the IT Ministry, eligible persons will get a discount of Rs 100 per litre on petrol under this programme. The government has decided to run the scheme through a digital system so that the process of identifying deserving consumers and providing relief can be kept more organised.

For registration, citizens have to write REG and send their ID card number to 9771. During this process, the vehicle registration number, provincial code and registration date will also have to be entered. After verifying the relevant information, the user will be able to enter the next stage of getting relief.

According to the ministry, to get fuel, one has to write TOK and send an SMS to 9771. After this, the fuel token issued will have to be shown at the designated petrol pump. On the basis of the token, petrol will be provided to the eligible user at a concessional rate.

The scheme has also fixed a monthly quantity for each user. Motorcycle and rickshaw users will get a discount on petrol up to 20 litres per month. For vehicles up to 800 cc, this limit has been set at 30 litres per month.

According to the government, the facility of subsidised petrol in Islamabad will be started from the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Citizens in other parts of the country will start getting this facility from the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The move comes at a time when petrol prices in the country are at an all-time high. The price of petrol was fixed at Rs 370.80 per litre since September 11. In recent weeks, local prices have also seen continuous changes due to fluctuations in the global market.

The government says that the goal is to provide direct relief to low-income citizens who use motorcycles or small vehicles for daily transportation. The success of the scheme depends on registration, verification and effective use of tokens at petrol pumps.
