Barrister Gohar’s strong speech in the National Assembly, rejecting the 27th constitutional amendment, declaring mourning for democracy

Speaking in the National Assembly session, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar has said that the head of a nuclear country is giving approval from abroad, we do not accept this “Baku Amendment”.

He said that buildings built for personal interests are synonymous with monuments of slavery. Barrister Gohar said that “amendment to the Constitution is a sensitive issue, but today is a day of mourning for democracy, because we are going to bury democratic values.”

He further said that there are corruption cases against Asif Zardari, if he is innocent, he should appear in court and give his reasons.  He said, “The law is supreme. In Britain, even the king is subject to the law, but here we make laws and also declare ourselves exempt from it.”

He said that we believe in the supremacy of law and are against a system in which a certain class is above the law.

According to analysts, Barrister Gohar’s speech could create a stir in the government ranks because he has termed the constitutional amendment as “personal interest” and has termed it against democratic principles.
