The prices of imported regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) have been increased by 15.27% in Pakistan during October.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a notification of new LNG prices for October 2026, under which the rates have been increased in the systems of Sui Northern and Sui Southern Gas Companies.
According to the notification, the price of RLNG on the distribution system of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has been fixed at $17.3259 per million British thermal unit (MMBTU) after an increase of 14.01 percent. In September, this price was $15.1963.
Similarly, the price of RLNG on the distribution system of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has been increased by 15.27 percent to $16.3959 per MMBTU, while the price was $14.2233 in September.
The transmission system has also seen a price hike. The transmission rate for Sui Northern has been increased from $13.99 to $15.94 per MMBTU, while for Sui Southern, it has been increased from $12.61 to $14.53.
According to OGRA, the new prices will be applicable from October 1, 2026.
The price hike may affect the cost of power generation, industrial activities and sectors using imported gas. However, the change in RLNG rates will have a direct impact on various consumers according to their respective gas tariffs and supply arrangements.
