Consultation between Bilawal Bhutto and Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the election of the opposition leader

An important meeting was held between the leaders of Pakistan’s two major opposition parties in Islamabad. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari consulted Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence on the political situation. The PPP leadership – Nayyar Bukhari, Jamil Soomro and Humayun Khan – were present in the meeting, while Maulana Asad Mahmood was also present from the JUI-F.

According to sources, the main purpose of this meeting was to appoint the opposition leader in the National Assembly and to formulate an effective strategy, keeping in mind the opposition figures. Bilawal Bhutto wants JUI-F to also stand with the PPP in the election of the opposition leader.

JUI sources say that the two leaders had positive discussions on national and political issues and agreed to continue contacts. At the same time, it was also clarified that there was no discussion on any constitutional amendment and Maulana Fazlur Rehman is not interested in becoming the opposition leader.
