Progress in the negotiation process between Iran and the US, Ishaq Dar highlights Pakistan’s role
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan helped bring Iran and the US to the negotiating table through significant diplomatic efforts, as a result of which a new phase of talks between the two countries has begun.
In an interview given to an international broadcasting organisation, he said that Pakistan played a role in creating an environment where negotiations were possible by maintaining contacts with various partners and allies. According to him, this progress can be counted as one of the major diplomatic achievements that have emerged over the past several decades.
Ishaq Dar said that if tensions between Iran and the US escalate further, its effects would not be limited to the region alone but could also severely affect the global economy. He explained that any such tension has immediate effects on energy prices, international trade and financial markets.
According to the foreign minister, three separate technical teams are participating in the ongoing talks, which are discussing various sensitive issues in detail. He said that the aim of these talks is to find practical and acceptable solutions that will help reduce tensions in the future.
He said that issues related to the nuclear programme, Iran’s frozen assets and the situation in Lebanon are among the important points of the talks. According to Ishaq Dar, initial consensus has emerged on some issues, and the parties are moving forward in a positive manner.
The foreign minister said that recent developments have strengthened the impression that all the parties concerned want to prioritise the diplomatic path. According to him, the trend of resolving issues through dialogue instead of using force can be auspicious for the region.
Experts believe that if the talks continue, it can not only improve relations between Iran and the United States, but also increase the chances of overall stability in the Middle East. This process can also have a positive impact on restoring confidence in global markets and the investment climate.
Ishaq Dar expressed hope that the parties would maintain a constructive attitude in the future as well and that the current talks would yield practical results. According to him, Pakistan would continue its efforts to promote peace, diplomacy and regional stability.
He stressed that in the current global situation, negotiations are the only way that can lay the foundation for lasting peace and prosperity, and these principles are an important part of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
