Crackdown on expensive kites, Lahore Commissioner visits markets in Lahore

Taking notice of the increasing prices of kites and strings before Basant, the district administration has decided to intervene in the market. Commissioner Lahore Maryam Khan has indicated that official rates of kites, kites and strings will be fixed if necessary.
The Commissioner visited Mochi Gate Bazaar and talked to traders and buyers. On this occasion, she said that prices have fluctuated due to the difference in demand and supply on the first day of Basant purchase, however, the situation will be stabilized by improving supply soon.
She said that there are more than two thousand registered points in Lahore and all the details are available on the official portal. Prices are expected to return to normal after supply increases from tomorrow.
The administration says strict action will be taken on complaints of illegal profiteering and if necessary, prices will be fixed through regular notifications.
According to economists, regulatory oversight can bring stability to the market. They say, “The fixing of government rates can eliminate hoarding and artificial inflation, which will provide relief to the common citizens.”
