ECC Approves Major Grants for Various Ministries and Institutions

ISLAMABAD — The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has cleared a handsome amount of grants to several ministries/institutions in a meeting presided over by Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

In these grants, the largest grant of this session, over Rs. 5.27 billion, was granted to the National Commission on the Status of Women. Moreover, a grant was approved for the Ministry of Information for Rs. 2463 million for the Ministry of Defence technical grant of Rs. 1940 million. Before signing it, the technical grant for the Ministry of Defence was revised to its technical specification.

For the Prime Minister’s relief package, the Ministry of Education was given Rs. 1.5 billion and the Utility Stores Corporation Rs. 1.67 billion.

During the meeting, ECC also approved Rs 650 million for the Ministry of Interior for security-related expenses during the Shanghai Conference. An authorization for a technical grant for fixing cameras that have been vandalized during social unrest was made, and $601,700 for the payment for the Safe City project was released.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb emphasized that timely policy decisions in economic, energy, and industrial sectors must be made with a focus on transparency and implementation.
