Electricity reduced by Rs 1.69 per unit; consumers likely to get relief of Rs 23 billion

The hearing on the July fuel price adjustment was completed under the chairmanship of Nepra Chairman Waseem Mukhtar, after which the decision will be issued in the form of a notification.

According to Nepra officials, the government had requested to reduce electricity prices by Rs 1.69 per unit in July. With the implementation of this reduction, consumers across the country, including K-Electric customers, are expected to get a relief of about Rs 23 billion in September bills.

The authority clarified that this relief will be for only one month, while the Ministry of Energy has informed Nepra through a letter about the instructions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
