The government has once again increased the prices of petroleum products. The price of petrol has been increased by 39 paise, while the rate of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 2.40 per litre.
According to a statement issued by the Petroleum Division, the new prices will be applicable from August 25. After the increase, the price of petrol per liter has been fixed at Rs 341.98.
The price of high-speed diesel has also been increased. The new price has been fixed at Rs 370.69 per litre. Thus, the price of diesel has gone beyond the level of Rs 370 per litre.
After the recent decision, the price of petrol has increased from Rs 341.59 to Rs 341.98. The price of high-speed diesel has increased from Rs 368.29 to Rs 370.69. The PSO records also show that the rates effective from August 22 are Rs 341.59 per liter of petrol and Rs 368.29 per liter of diesel.
This shows that the increase in petrol prices is relatively limited. In comparison, the increase in diesel prices of Rs 2.40 will be more noticeable for consumers.
