Islamabad: In view of the ongoing heavy rains and possible flood situation across the country, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a comprehensive advisory and issued instructions to all telecom companies to immediately activate alternative plans to deal with the emergency situation.

PTA has established a National Emergency Telecommunication Coordination Center in the country to ensure continuous provision of mobile and internet services in the affected areas.

The authority has directed the operators to:

  • Submit a service restoration report every 6 hours.
  • Provide information on flood risks, evacuation plans, and emergency numbers to the public in regional languages.
  • Provide telecommunication facilities to relief personnel on a priority basis.
  • Install temporary mobile units wherever needed.

PTA has also directed to keep help desks active at all franchises, local loop operators and top-up points so that complaints of affected customers can be redressed immediately.
